Why can't I have a locker light?

In the July issue you tested a Buccaneer Caravel and mentioned a light on the A-frame which shone in to the gas bottle locker. My friend had one of these on a Swift and found it useless because as you reached into the gas bottles, you blocked the light. Why can't manufacturers give us what we really need- a light inside the gas locker?
MIKE SAYS If there isn't a law about this, there should be. Electrical devices shouldn't be in the same compartment as gas bottles because when you switch the device on, you will get a spark. And sparks and gas don't go together.
In theory, there shouldn't be a problem even if there is a gas leak because butane and propane sink to the bottom of the locker and then through ventilators to atmosphere, but would you seriously want to take a chance by putting a light in the gas bottle locker?
